Insulin: The Real Culprit
Insulin could be called the master regulator of human metabolism. It is involved in regulating blood sugar, the production of cholesterol and triglycerides, and the storage of fat. Excess fat storage and the accompanying health disorders are merely symptoms of too much insulin. Some beta-blockers and diuretics actually cause the body to produce more
insulin, which complicates the problem. When refined carbohydrates
(bread, baked goods, and starchy foods like pasta and rice) are eaten they are converted into simple sugars, or glucose. Insulin is then secreted by the pancreas which allows the glucose to be used by the cells for energy. The more
refined carbs you eat, the more insulin is required. Since the body can only store limited amounts of this "carb energy", nutrition
researchers agree that any excess will be converted into fat. This is simply a function of eating more
refined carbohydrates than the body can absorb. Remember, insulin is a fat producer!

There are no prescriptions to solve this problem. The right diet is the only remedy, but it works well for the majority of people and is quite simple … control your refined carbohydrate intake and forget about those non-fat diets. Eating excess refined carbohydrates increases insulin production -
and that begins the process that turns the sugar into fat.
Natural dietary fat is not the enemy!
Refined carbohydrates and sugar are the real culprits. By restricting sugar and simple carbohydrate levels (flour, starches, etc.), your body can and will use stored body fat as fuel to meet its energy needs. Don't be fooled by the "non-fat" diet hoax. Take a look at the labels on most non-fat food items. You'll notice that the fat
has been replaced by various forms of SUGAR! like corn syrup, etc. More sugar is exactly what you DON'T need when you are trying to lose weight!
Put the eggs and real butter back in your diet
Humans need the right kind of fat for fuel, healthy nails and hair, to keep gallstones away and fight colds and infections. Also, proper dietary fat eaten with a meal causes a chemical reaction that tells you "I'm full" thus decreasing the tendency to overeat. So butter and cream are not the "bad guys" they've been portrayed to be by the diet
industry. (If you eat them in moderation, of course) On the other hand, "good fat" definitely does NOT include chips, and french fries! It's important to make the correct distinction between good dietary fat and bad fat. Eliminate chips, pastries, french fries, baked goods and start putting the "good" fat back in your diet. Eggs, dairy products and animal protein
contain nutrients that are essential to building optimum health and give a feeling of satisfaction.
Drink 8 to 10 glasses of pure water a day
Last, but not least. Plenty of water helps cleanse the body, keeping it hydrated and removing toxins and other waste..
Calcium and weight loss
While researching the possibility that calcium could reduce high blood
pressure, Dr. Michael Zemel, of the University of Tennessee, discovered that
test subjects had unexpectedly lost weight over the one year study, although
there was no intentional reduction in calories. The individuals lost an
average of 11 pounds. Additional research showed that body fat was
significantly lower in people who consumed more calcium, and there was a
dramatic reduction in levels of obesity in people with high levels of
calcium in their diet. The high-calcium groups lost 7.7 percent of their
body weight.
Another interesting facet of the study was that the majority of the weight
loss from the higher-calcium group was in the abdominal region. The way fat
cells handle fat is determined by the amount of calcium in the diet. Results
indicated that if your diet is low in calcium, hormones are stimulated that
signal the body to store fat.
Of course, calcium supplementation alone shouldn't be viewed as the ultimate
solution for weight loss, but increasing your daily calcium intake may give
that additional boost needed by many in the struggle to maintain healthy
weight.
What about diet drugs?
Drugs may work on a temporary basis...but please consider the damaging side effects...the ones we know about, and the ones that are yet to be discovered. Also, the underlying problem is not being addressed. As soon as you go off the drugs, you will return to the same pattern of craving and deprivation because the deficiency is still there...and
the weight eventually comes right back on.
You body will continue telling you about its lack until you provide the proper nutrition it needs. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just "eating right". If the deficiency cravings still exist, then eating right will be nothing but a continued battle of mind over body...and your body will win every time! That's why deprivation
diets don't work for lasting weight loss.
When your body is supplied with all the essential nutrients, you won't desire "empty calorie" foods, and you'll willingly stop eating when you're satisfied. Can you even imagine it! Food will not control your life anymore!
Don't wait until this problem takes its toll emotionally, damaging your self-image, making you feel hopeless and out of control. It will not go away on its own because it is a physical deficiency.
Many people who have cravings also exhibit other symptoms: blood sugar problems, lack of energy and mental clarity, inability to stay focused mentally, depression, creaky popping joints, high blood pressure, cholesterol problems, and much more.
