Are You REALLY
Eating Healthy? |
| Article: Do you know what type of processing your food is subjected to? |
| Anytime you put food
through a man-made process of any kind you are changing its structure and
therefore changing the way it is used by the body. This can be a minimal
change, such as damaging natural enzymes when you heat food over 118 degrees,
all the way to the harmful and dangerous alterations that result from mass
production factory... read more

| Article: Insulin Resistance: It may be the starting point for heart disease, high blood pressure and more |
| Insulin Resistance... Knowing whether or not you are
insulin resistant
may help you deal with many common health conditions: Insulin, produced and released into the blood by the pancreas, is a master hormone of metabolism. It affects virtually every cell in the body. It regulates blood sugar, controls the storage of fat, helps direct the functions of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates, and it regulates the liver’s synthesis of cholesterol. It also functions as a growth hormone, affects appetite control, kidney function and much more. Without it you would die in a matter of days. But insulin can be a double edged sword... too much of it, on a consistent basis, creates a whole other set of serious problems; by raising blood pressure ... read more

| Article: Scientists believe homogenized milk is linked to heart disease |
| Scientists believe its no coincidence that the
homogenization of milk and the increase of atherosclerotic heart disease began
at about the same time, in the 1940’s. When milk is homogenized mechanically,
the fat particles of the cream are strained under great pressure, becoming so
small they will stay in suspension within the milk, rather than rise to the top
of the milk, giving the product a "smoother" feel. The fat is damaged during the
process when temperature or the pressure is too high. This unnatural composition
cannot be broken down by the body as intended, making it ...

| Article: Watch out for these "nutrient robbers" |
| There are two major factors that
contribute to today’s host of illnesses and diseases... our depleted soils, and our everyday eating habits. By identifying
and eliminating the nutrient robbers from your diet, you can maximize the
absorption and retention of your supplements. Get in the habit of reading
labels. Ingredients are listed in the order of their quantity...the first item
is the largest quantity and so on. Highly refined foods like white flour and
white sugar, because they are un-natural and your body doesn’t know exactly what
to do with them, pull nutrients from your system to facilitate their
“processing”. So not only are processed foods adding virtually
nothing from a nutritional standpoint, they are in many cases, creating
unnecessary depletions ...

| Article: Which oils are actually healthy? (Hint: NOT vegetable oil!) |
|
Are those so called "healthy" oils really healthy? Today’s mass produced oils are processed in large factories by crushing the seeds, then heating them to 230 degrees. The oil is then subjected to more heat when it is squeezed out at 10 to 20 tons of pressure per inch. And since money is the name of the game here, in order to extract every possible drop, the pulp is then treated with any number of toxic solvents, usually hexane. The solvent is boiled off, but up to 100 ppm (parts per million) may still remain in the oil. These high temperatures create dangerous free radicals within the finished product and kill off the naturally occurring vitamin E in the original fruit, nuts or seeds that would normally have helped protect the body from free radicals. And we haven’t even gotten into the residues that are coming off the metal containers used in the high heat process. So much for modern "healthy" oil! Because olive and coconut are cold-pressed the free radical fighting vitamin E is preserved, making them the far healthier choice. ... read more

| Article: Fats: The good, the bad, and the really bad |
|
Have you tried to lose weight and noticed that your non-fat diet isn’t working? Hidden hydrogenated oils in processed foods may be the culprit because they interfere with the absorption of Essential Fatty Acids, or EFAs. These good fats, are essential to every metabolic function of the body, including the chemicals and hormones that regulate how your body uses food. The good news for dieters is that EFAs cause a chemical reaction that tells you “I’m full”. When your diet is inadequate in them you will be hungry until you get them! You will probably... read more
